School Site Council
The School Site Council at Killybrooke Elementary is a group of teachers, parents, administrators, and interested community members. Their responsibility is to work as a team to develop and monitor our school's academic improvement plan. Any school that receives Federal Funding is required to have a School Site Council and members are elected by their peers. School Site Council meets four times to consider the goals of the school, working with the principal to evaluate the school’s progress toward those goals. School Site Council looks at test scores, attendance and discipline records, parent surveys and student input.
After looking at available information, the school site council and the principal create a plan for improvement. This plan may involve a new academic program, staff member or parent outreach strategy. Our School Site Council supported the use of funds to hire intervention teachers. With budget limits and restrictions on certain spending, it’s a difficult task to find the best use of available funds.
